7E.2  Activity Status Rules

7E.2.1 Activities Affecting Items on the Register of Significant Archaeological Areas

All activities within a significant archaeological area identified in Appendix 7D: Register of Significant Archaeological Areas shall have the status identified in Table 7E.1: Historic and Heritage Activity Status - Significant Archaeological Areas. Symbols used in Table 7E.1: Historic and Heritage Activity Status -Significant Archaeological Areas have the meaning described in Table 1A.2: Activity Status.


Note: Destruction, damage or modification of any archaeological site, regardless of whether it is listed in the Plan or not, requires an authority from the New Zealand Historic Places Trust under the Historic Places Act 1993.


Table 7E.1: Historic and Heritage Activity Status - Significant Archaeological Areas

Use/Activity Relevant Rule Activity Status
Maintenance, repair or replacement (including associated earthworks) of existing minor structures and activities; 7E.3.1 P

Subdivision which is not a:
  1. Cross-lease to freehold subdivision
  2. Amendment to a cross-lease, company lease or unit title plan to show additions, alterations or accessory buildings
  3. Boundary adjustments, amalgamations and relocations of existing titles
  4. Unit titles and allotments to accommodate network utilities

7E.2.2 Activities within the Te Tumu Archaeological Management Areas

All activities within a significant archaeological area identified in Appendix 7E - Te Tumu Archaeological Management Areas shall have the status identified in Table 7E.2: Historic and Heritage Activity Status - Te Tumu Archaeological Management Areas. Symbols used in Table 7E.2: Historic and Heritage Activity Status - Te Tumu Archaeological Management Areas have the meaning described in Table 1A.2: Activity Status.
